Huge disappointment. Way too many things that don't make sense. The nail in the stairs, the insanely fast birth, etc…Why in the hell didn't they take every precaution against getting pregnant? How can you be so careless? Wouldn't you think that a weakness would be high frequency sounds? They are super sensitive to the slightest sound. Durp.

Rotten tomatoes gave this way too high a rating imo. It was decent though

I enjoyed the movie, but it has a lot of plot holes and flaws when you think about it later. Just don't analyze it too much.

The cocking of the shotgun, in the end, made me laugh out, otherwise I was on the edge of my seat in total quietude.

Really? a 9.3? Wow… you guys are lightweights. Well made, but as others have said, it's typical "horror" flick using premise we've seen a million times.

too many jump scares and pretty much a cookie-cutter thriller

I completely loved the movie. I agree it's a great film. However, it does remind me a lot of the movie Signs. The girl with the hearing aid reminds me a lot of the scene where they have to swing in signs. Yes there are obvious differences but there are some parallels as well.

Had some inconsistencies of logic of course but it was good where it really counted in my opinion. Performances were all great, family dynamic was simple but powerful, and of course it was a breath of fresh air to experience such a quiet film in a world or relentlessly loud blockbusters

Overall it's a good movie, and it's great at building tension. But there are quite a few contrivances and plotholes that keep it from being amazing.

The premise is fantastic and the movie is great….. but then you see the creatures and they are horrible (CGI IS NOT SCARY) and then I started picking out huge plot holes. I wasn’t invested in the baby stuff because all I could ask was WHY WOULD YOU NOT HAVE SAFE SEX during this type of apocalypse. Don’t have a kid, that was obvious. A less annoying one was if you have power for your farm that electricity is coming from a generator or plant from somewhere that makes noise. A huge disappointment but still fun time at a Cinema.
6 out of 10. I am thankful it’s basically a silent film. We need more.

Saw this in the theater and so glad that I did.

Spoiler-ish

It’s basically the final episode of Alien when they finally make it to Earth. This was the most intense movie experience I’ve had since seeing Whiplash. This was better than Get Out. It’s really more sci fi, even though it’s being sold as horror. Sure there’s plot issues, like how could humanity not have figured a more effective defense to these creatures. But for the world that’s been built, this is as good of a story as you could put to film. 10/10. One of the best of the decade.

It's a solid B-Horror flick with a nice gimmick executed well. The direction on a scene-by-scene basis is strong, and the tension is great throughout. However, the characters are fairly thin and a bit cliché (possibly a byproduct of their inability to talk), and the logic of the movie doesn't hold up to much scrutiny. Also, a few unnecessary jump scares dampen the more legitimate thrills. 7.5/10

I honestly do not see at all what the hype is about. I did not buy these characters, the music was so over the top and almost the entire film is just jump scare after jump scare. It's an interesting concept but that's really the only exceptional thing about this film. Am I alone on this?!?

For a movie called "A Quiet Place" where you couldn't make a sound, my theater cranked the volume up to a 1000. Whenever the monsters would appear and scream, our ears were practically bleeding.

I’m sorry this movie was dumb af. The family dynamic ruined the movie. The pregnancy was dumb like why would you get pregnant when you know you can’t keep a baby quiet? Why would they even want to bring another child into the world after they already got the youngest one killed? Also the daughter could have easily just saved the dad but she clearly didn’t give a fuck. The last shot of the movie was laughable. The movie was even scary it was more sci-fi than horror. Complete well made garbage 3/10

There would be no way in reality that children could possibly survive. They are wayyy too curious and would fuck up sooner or later. To have a child I thought was also completely retarded. They beginning of the movie proves this. Accidentally got pregnant? Coat hanger man. Again, even if you trained your children from birth to be quiet, children BY NATURE are loud and would not work in a world where noise will GET YOU KILLED. They get bored too easily and it would take for someone to die for them to truly understand. Not logical by any means

they said, 'after his directorial debut, i didnt know he had this in him to make this film'..maybe its just luck? just because a person makes one good film doesnt mean theyll make another good film. or just because a person makes a bad film doesnt mean they will only make bad films..how presumptuous……..

I saw this movie in a small town movie theater where the theater it was playing in was located right next to the bathrooms, so every time the hand dryer went on, it's all you could hear in the theater. Long story short: If you're going to see this movie, go to see it in a decent theater where sound contamination will not be a problem.

nothing was over done you say? how about jump scares? The ending as well…oft. cringe to extreme.
