How to fix Access Denied for user ‘root’@’localhost’ ( using password : NO ) on localhost MySQL XAMPP servers

If you ever want to change mySQL database access password then visit

Configure it with the “XAMPP Shell” (command prompt). Open the shell from the XAMPP control pane and execute this command:

mysqladmin.exe -u root password secret

This sets the root password to ‘secret’.

This only gets us halfway there. It doesn't explain why we had login issues to begin with, how to correct whatever went wrong, and/or how to move forward being able to remove that "skip" command. Now it has to be there permanently, and I guess we just shrug it off?
