Complex’s weekly series Don’t Believe the Hype takes a look at what’s hot and what’s just hot air. Sneakers, clothes, tech, food—nothing is safe. The Adidas Ultra Boosts have always been hot, but what happens when a hyped shoe combines with an environmentally good cause? The Parley x Adidas Ultra Boosts are made of mainly recycled plastic found floating in the ocean – that’s right, people are wearing garbage on their feet. But can people tell a difference between the new versions and the original Adidas Ultra Boosts? Speedy finds out in this episode of Don’t Believe The Hype if Complex staffers think the shoes are fire, or just well…trash.

I have worn and run in Uncaged Ultraboost size 7 for a year. I bought a parley version on eBay and it looks genuine but size 7 wears really tight. Also, I feel it has less cushion as well so not sure if I got a fake

I think parley is different in terms of the size of the internal booty. Reg boost is more wider.

Eco-friendly? I don't give a shit. My cause: getting the best shoe for my money.

I noticed the Parley Ultraboost tend to be a bit tighter. The inner lining is also quite rough, compared to the normal Ultra boost which has a soft lining. The material by the collar on both shoes are different too, being the Parley feels snug and fit tighter than the normal ones. I am usually size 10.5, with Adidas I go for 11. Parley size 11, feels and fit very nice, whereas normal ultraboost size 11 fits a tiny bit loose but very comfy. Hope this helps.

The idea trying to put hype onto everything is already stupid. You care more about hype rather than the cause behind it. This makes this video stupid.

hope someone will agree with me that this is the dumbest shit ever. people aren’t buying this for a difference in quality or a performance boost, they’re buying it cuz it’s made out of plastic even if it is just a white lie. pointless video, slightly disappointed.

Dude said I thought it was gonna be couple hundred dollars more? Seriously? Normal UB’s cost 180. Any sneaker with couple hundred dollars on top no matter what it is is ridiculous to even think lol. But obviously complex staff aren’t really sneaker heads or know anything about ultra boost. Lol
