How to install Waves Legacy (Version 9) plugins with Waves Central.

Save an EXTRA 10% on ALL Waves Plugins and Bundles!

The current version of Waves Central only installs Waves version 10+ plugins. If you have Waves plugins that are still at version 9, you will have to download the Waves offline installer.

Once you download the proper version for you, uncompressed it. Open Waves Central and select Offline Installer.
Navigate to the folder, click into it, and select the Installers folder.
Choose your plugins.
Install.

After that, move your licenses to the proper place if you have not already done so.

You can delete the uncompressed Offline Installer and the zipped file, however, you should backup the compressed folder before deleting from your Downloads folder. Then, if you need to install v9 plugins in the future, you will already have everything you need.

Absolute shitshow this lot. Got back into music recently and redownloaded all my vst's. In most cases this has been a case of visiting the vst website and downloading the vst. With waves I had to download one manager app, spend 30min trying to work out why my licenses aren't showing up, then download a legacy manager app which is 3.3GB in size. What a bunch of tossers!

I did this, simply to a avoid the $240 update cost, I have v10 & v11 plugs also but stopped buying waves
because of the update fee.

Thank you very much for this tutorial. I was going crazy in a fucking limbo trying to install stuff from this assfucked joke of a company. What a shitshow. I'll keep using what I have but I'm not buying anything else every again from them.

Thanks for the help, BenoniStudio 🙂 I lost Waves functionality after upgrading from Win 7 to 10 on a legitimate clone I had made of my Win 7 drive (I didn't want to risk losing my entire Ableton environment, hence I made a clone first and upgraded to Win 10 on the clone). Waves' own licensing environment is a headache. Great VST's but I have to question weather I'll invest in any more of their products, going forward. This was driving me nuts until I came across this video.

hey man, I just updated to V11 and it's totally messed with a bunch of my plugins. Any idea how to have V9/V10/V11 plugins all work through Waves Central V11? Is it essentially the same procedure?

Just got to say THANKYOU so so so much to BenoniStudio, this video on how to do this saved the day for me. I just could NOT work this out trying to follow the incredibly confusing nonsense from Waves.

This is why I HATE WAVES, and will NEVER purchase plugins from them ever again! They make everything so convoluted, complicated, and impossible to do anything that is simple that should take one minute, and it takes days, weeks or months to work out, IF you're lucky. I use only a handful of their plugins now, vs the 99% I paid good money for, only to NEVER use them now. Please, anyone new, do yourself a massive favor, and AVOID buying ANYTHING from Waves. So so so many superior plugins out there at very competitive prices compared to the evil gouging Waves.

My God what a horrible company, right up there with EA. Don't ever buy anything, or even accept their free plugins, they will attempt to WUP some money out of you at some point

Waves is fucking trash. It would be 0 hassle for them to allow you to download the plugins from their website and license them, but instead they make you download a 3.5GB zipped file of all their old stuff and jump through multiple flaming hoops. It's a clear attempt to get you to update out of convenience. If they want me to update, they should add some new features, or ANY genuine incentive. Don't try to make my life difficult in an attempt to get me to pay you more money

V11 of waves central looks totally different. When I add a single plugin it claims I can't install because it needs 4Gig.

Updated Waves Central after downloading a V11 plugin. All my other Waves plugins wiped – cost me hours of work. This forced inconvenience just looks like a way to push people into a cynical and unnecessary 'upgrade plan'. Boycotting waves from now on – there are enough good plugin manufacturers out there for this crap to be avoided.

The ssl console and a MCI 24 track analog tape machine blows everything else out the water…..its a shame the good stuff is still to this day too expensive for the average Joe.
