Fuck this tv. It looks like balls. The black levels ass and dark scenes have terrible compression artifacts and smearing for lower quality contend. Also I am not comparing this to an expensive tv! I have a phillips tv in the same price range and while not perfect looks just fine. It handles compressed video just fine. If you think this tv looks good you are blind or lying to yourself! On top of that this tv requires all your personal info just to set it up to watch fucking cable tv! You need to create a Roku account, credit card info, and input your home address just to watch cable tv or blu rays!!! Fuck this tv to Hell!!!

I bought one of these for my elderly Mom. Took it back to Costco the next day. Evidently TCL have decided that the way TVs have been working for decades needed to be changed. Problem is… When you're watching your cable input… turn the TV off… turn the TV on, you SHOULD be watching the cable input. No brainer, right? TCL however requires you to select which input you want to see after powering on. For Seniors and the very elderly its an extra button push and a deal breaker.

This review is fantastic. I got mine yesterday. A 55" built Sept. 2017. Most important. BUY IT. Don't wait for a deal. It's magnificent. Keep in mind, most people don't have a 4K TV yet, and cannot afford $ 1500 for an OLED/QLED. From that perspective, the image quality shortcomings referred to are inaccurate. This TV's picture is so good, some retailers won't even display it. They've learned it will be the only one people buy.

If it can't play back 4K content via USB, the port being USB 2.0 instead of USB 3.0 isn't the cause. Even UHD Blu-ray uses only around 100 megabits per second, while USB 2.0 is 480 megabits per second.
