We use the phrase ‘used to’ when we want to talk about something we did regularly in the past, but we don’t do now. We also use it to talk about a past fact which is no longer true. In 6 Minute Grammar, Neil, Catherine and Rob share their pasts with you and give lots of examples of ‘used to’.

Is there another way of talking about past habits without using 'used to'? This is the question that Tim tackles in this video.

Hi, thank you, but this is not everything about ' used to' we can say, for example
I used to run in the morning, but I'm used to running in the evening these days. This point wasn't covered.
We can also use ' would' instead of ' used to' when we talk about activities we used to do in the past
And this point wasn't also covered.

I used to live in Asia but now I live in Europe, where the whether is always sunny, quite different to the place where I come from, where used to rain frequently, personally I would say that this is a benefit in the sense that I am considerably tanner, mostly because I didn´t use to get such amount of sunlight, people often ask me which place is better, I would ask them back, did you use to live in another continent? if they say yes, I would say, you tell me, and if not, I would say it depends.

I´ve used all three forms of used to, hehe.

Lovely video.
Thanks a lot
Now it's my turn to write a number of examples

2. Did you use to swim when you were a kid?
3. She played basketball for the the first time last week, so she didn't use to play basketball in the past.
4. I've been living in Canada for about quarter century, so I'm used to cold.
Thanks.
