I have the 55S401, bought from Walmart last year for $299. Excellent TV. (Has a Yamaha RX-V485 5.1 AV receiver for sound output)
Replaced a 2016 55" TCL 4K TV because it didn't have HDR10 like the 55S401 does. Sold that one for $200 to a co-worker (I bought it for $599)
The 2016 TCL replaced a 2011 50" Panasonic plasma HDTV that I purchased for $899
The 2011 Panasonic replaced a stolen 2009 45" Samsung HDTV that originally cost $999
i own one and its a fucking terrible tv. shit assed support, lags, does what it wants not what you want. do yourself a favour and get something else.
TCL TV not good and Tcl company can't support the customer and all corporate advertising not true and they are lying about everything , If you buy TCL and have problem you must call them 4 time and take the receipt to seller ( Good Guys ) , they contact to TCL after that take 25 days to 30 days to some one call you and say we send you technician to have a look .((( Buyer must be careful about money and time )))
Ikea uses these TVs in their stores
Did any notice the Yoko Littner body pillow? 7:10
It's cause they're POOR
*Cough
TCL is know the 2nd manufacturer of TV's
These TVs are my go-to for installs in guest and kids rooms for my clients. We install one on the channel. Great vid as usual linus.
Mine is less than 2 years old and went black screen and it must be repaired. It went in trash. Never again.
… did they spelled imperceptible wrong..? Yes.
The Cheap Life. TCL
I have TCL P8S, why GTA 5 is worst in this TV? Please help me
I had a Vizio 1080p that lasted 2 years than 3 years ago went and bought a 4k Insignia tv it just went out last week I'm on a budget cause being on disability but I no this time i want at lest a 50 inche 4k tv or slightly bigger but a toss up on witch brand I want too buy I'm ad voiding Vizio and Insignia brands TCL tried them out 3 years ago worst picture quality ever.
Dude the bezels are way smaller than the similarly priced LG and Samsung TVs and it even seems to be brighter, I know because I own all three brands
This or Samsung Q70?
tcl brand is trash. i bought stupid tcl tv and it create ghost image within couple weeks and then died blank screen within 2 months.
As far as a review Linus got the specs right but as someone who works with high end TVs some of the other stuff is very wrong. You absolutely should not buy this TV if you're more picky with quality. The part about this TV having bad speakers is true but completely irrelevant because almost every TV has terrible audio unless it has acoustic surface technology, no speaker ever sounded good facing the wall. TCL is a good budget brand like Vizio and Hisense but they are by no means a premium brand in TV and they don't have the build quality or specs to compare with companies like LG, Samsung or Sony. Look into a TV by one of those manufacturers with Full Array Local Dimming and quantum color (generally 8 series and up have that 10bit panel) to get a better picture. Although Samsung is one of the big three manufacturers still in premium TV's they are bright and reliable and that's it, they're a marketing company with higher prices and don't even support dolby vision on their QLED models. They used to be good but now are cutting corners and just relying on name value looking for profit not to make a quality product.
If you're looking for the best get literally anything with the word Sony on it and it will be quality, they don't make anything that isn't premium and almost all of their TVs are 120hz. Not only that but they have the best processing for upscaling and motion, and make the current best consumer TV on the market. They aren't even that bad in price either, their entry model 800 series often goes on decent sales and are even more affordable than Samsung. If you must get a cheaper brand TV look at Hisense H8 or H9, Vizio M series, or a TCL 5 series and above.
A TV that stops working after 15 months is what we got. :(((
TCL does make decent picture for the price. But please don’t oversell the cheap stuff. The TCL 4 series still has awful blacks. I worked a few years at Best Buy home theatre during college, and cheap still buys you crap.
Don’t expect a 2070 for 100 bucks, and don’t expect any type of average performance out of a cheap tv.
All TVs that claim 120hz are all actually 60hz panels. Direct lit is barely better than edge lit. Nothing really changes till full array local dimming which then you actually get good blacks.
Point being, if you’re poor, then go TCL all the way. Best tv for the low end. But do not mistake it for quality. I actually have a correlating rating system comparing tv quality to processors.
Element/Westinghouse: bottom of the barrel, cheap garbage if you can’t afford even 40 bucks more. Your intel celerons for those who need it to turn on and don’t care about any type of quality.
LG 6 series/TCL 4 series: best for the cheap tvs. Decent color and decent 1080 picture. No upscaling, 60hz, etc. 4k picture is meh at best. This is your i3 processor comparison. Just enough to get you going for something on a budget. You won’t be rocking anything worth showing to anyone, but good for those who can’t afford better quality.
Lg and Samsung 8 series/TCL 6 series: your entry level to quality. Actual native 120hz panels with good color, good picture, decent upscaling, but still edge lit panels. Awesome for the middle ground people who want price and quality. This is your early i5’s that offer great performance for a decent price.
Samsung Q70/ Sony 900F and 950G:
Real quality starts kicking in. Full array local dimming on all models, all native 120, fantastic upscaling especially with Sony’s processors. Colors move to the next level. All 10 bit color panels. These are your top of the market into i7’s/ryzen 7s where good performance roams for those who enjoy true quality and fit for most high end people.
Lg and Sony OLEDs/ Samsung Q90: your “ultra” high end pc build equivalents. These are your Ryzen 9’s and i9’s. Pure performance, with great design aspect. With the price to match it. These are for the most hardcore picture quality enthusiasts, and OLEDs being number 1 rated tv for console gamers. These TVs offer the best of everything. OLEDs perfect blacks reign supreme unmatched. Samsung’s Q90 has extremely bright color spectrums for those rooms with a ton of natural sunlight and glare.
TLDR: TVs are still cheap for cheap quality. You get what you pay for. If you’re paying 400 bucks for a 65 inch, don’t expect any better picture than an iPhone 6 basically lol. Everyone has different tastes. Some people say there’s no difference between 2gb ram and 16gb ram. Some say 20fps is the same as 200fps. We all know that’s just crap, but there’s people like that. People notice 60hz vs 120hz in TVs. You may not. But, the quality increase is still there for those of us who do have more of an eye for it.
Why does this sound like a commercial
